Yet another great addition to strengthen the TIPMIP Team! This month, we welcomed Valeriia Chorna, our new student assistant, who will be supporting our ongoing research projects as well as their coordination and administration. So you’re likely to be in touch with her at various points.

Valeriia began her Physics studies at the National University of Kyiv, which she had to interrupt due to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. She continued her academic path at the Technical University of Berlin, where she is now completing her Bachelor’s degree in Physics. She also spent a semester abroad at Sorbonne Université, where she particularly enjoyed a course on the dynamics of the atmosphere and oceans.
Currently, Valeriia is working on her Bachelor’s thesis in the Climate Modelling section at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Potsdam, evaluating the impact of atmospheric rivers on melt pond formation in the Arctic.
